The Charlotte Hornets announced Thursday that radio broadcaster John Focke will not return for violating the team’s social media policy.
The Hornets had suspended Focke indefinitely on Aug. 17 after he used a racial slur in a tweet about the playoff game between the Denver Nuggets and Utah Jazz.
Focke used the N-word instead of “Nuggets” in the tweet, which was later deleted. He apologized in a later tweet.
“Since this is a personnel matter, the organization will not comment any further. The Hornets thank John for all of his efforts during the 2019-20 season,” the team said in a statement.
This season was Focke’s first broadcasting for the team.
