The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is an annual collegiate athletic conference based in the south-eastern United States. It is split into six conferences with the leading divisional champions being the Atlantic Division, the Atlantic Ocean Conference, the American Atlantic Conference, the Conference USA and the Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The conferences schedule their championships throughout the year. They have not been successful in producing a champion team since 1996. The only team to win the national championship in the history of the ACcampus was the USC Trojans in that year’s tournament. Since then, the Eagles have been one of the major disappointments in recent years.
The Trojans was the only team to ever win the ACpac in two different decades. In fact, they are the only program to repeat as bowl game champions. That season they knocked off eventual national champion Oklahoma State University in their second bowl game. They then went on to knock off eventual national runner-up Virginia in the quarter finals before losing the national title to Florida State in the championship game. Since then, they have been plagued by the same problems that seemed to plague them throughout their history.
Their offense has been unbalanced, poor on passing and very poor at scoring. Their defensive unit has been unable to stop opponents from scoring in the Bowl games. Current Boston College coach Charlie Weis has been forced to make some questionable plays at the end of the game that ends up hurting the Eagles. His defense has also been poor at stopping the run and getting after opposing runners. This is a team that needs help if it is going to return to the Bowl game in a near future.
The Seminoles are also in need of help in their offensive line. Led by tacklesains Marcedes Farmer and Trevard Lindley, the line has been unable to block anyone on the opposing team all year long. They have been beat up and harassed on a regular basis by a number of high caliber college football teams. This could easily be the year that the Atlantic Coast Conference leads the entire country in Football.
Last year the Eagles had one team that they looked like they could not slow down. It was the team from the AAC. Last year the Florida State Seminaries showed everyone that they are the one team that cannot be stopped. This year the Eagles will have to prove to people that they are not one team that can be stopped. I think BC may be a threat but I’m not positive that they have what it takes to come out on top. Florida State is probably the favorite but that is based on the previous performances that we saw from the Seminaries this year.
There is one thing that I am sure about the Atlantic Coast Conference this season, it is the teams will battle until the last game of the year. The first few weeks of the season were very dominant by some of the other teams but this is one game that will not go to overtime. The first two or three games might be a very entertaining but this will be the only conference game that will go into overtime this season.
Right now the Atlantic Coast Conference has four teams that they are leading by a margin of ten games. This is a very big lead for any team in the entire league. Only one team has a real shot at being able to win the division this season. I think it is fairly safe to say that the favorite would be the team that finishes second in the Atlantic Division. The only other teams that could finish in even is the Coastal Division Champs.
The teams that actually finish first usually do not do much in the playoffs. The teams that are in the top four usually do much better in the playoffs. There are a lot of teams that have a chance at making it to the championship but this is going to be the year that every team in the league has a chance to make it. It will be a very good season in the Atlantic Division.
