Singer Michael W Smith has made a career for himself in a field of music that is highly competitive, yet relatively under-served: namely, the arena rock genre known as Christian Rock. Smith first got involved with Christian rock in his early teen years and has been a major player in this arena ever since.

When he was first trying to break into the music industry, he found it extremely difficult to get signed. He would sometimes record demos but would be turned down by record labels. He didn’t have much experience in the music business and most music publishers were intimidated by him, or simply didn’t care much about what he had to say. Singer-songwriter Michael W Smith eventually broke through to the mainstream and recorded the very popular song “Hang on Loose” (a song that went on to sell millions of copies) and “The Lord Is My Shepherd.”

Singer-songwriter Michael W Smith says that one of the reasons he decided to write music about Christianity is because he thought he could make a better song by writing about it. Singer-songwriter Michael Smith says that he was hesitant to sign on to a multi-band tour at first – not because he didn’t believe he would like the business of playing on stage with other rock music artists, but because it simply seemed a challenge to figure out how many songs to play in a smaller set that these tours allow. He wasn’t sure if he was cut out for the arena, so he chose to stick to the smaller arena rock circuit and test his mettle there. Since then, he has gone on to win several awards, and he now tours regularly.

Singer-songwriter Michael W Smith has written dozens of songs, but none have become mainstream hits. Many are even considered classics and have the reputation of being songs that everyone knows and loves. However, there are songs on Smith’s discography that have become popular because of their lyrics. In fact, “How Great the Lord Is” is such a well-loved song that it was covered by the Eagles when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Smith wrote the song because he felt that he was inspired by the lyrics of the hymn written by hymn master John Newton.

The singer-songwriter Michael W Smith believes that songwriters don’t get paid enough in today’s music industry. “The thing about the rock and roll music business is that all the people who write rock songs are making a lot of money, and therefore, you have a lot of folks who are not very well off,” Smith said. This is why some of the best songs written have not become popular with listeners, and that is what has kept the quality of some of today’s greatest music down. He said that some of today’s rock artists are stuck in a rut because they haven’t found a way to push themselves forward and create their own hits.

Smith, who has been married for twenty years, has five children, and has a beautiful wife to boot, says that he does not make very much from writing songs. Nevertheless, he still believes in writing music as a way to express his emotions. He enjoys playing live, and even tours as an occasional singer-songwriter.
