The Tennessee Titans is an American professional football team situated in Nashville, Tennessee. The Titans play in the National Football League’s South Division. As a part of the league, the Titans are competing against other teams from around the country.
During the regular season, the Titans host the Tennessee Volunteers in what is considered a friendly rivalry. However, this competition has turned into a much more meaningful clash in recent years. Since the inception of college football, the championship trophy has been awarded to the winner of the National Football League playoffs. In fact, the current crop of NFL playoff participants all have one thing in common; they are all former college or professional football players.
There is no doubt that Tennessee has a number of highly talented collegiate athletes. One of those athletes is Phillip Rivers, who is now playing for the Houston Texans. The Titans drafted Rivers in the first round of the draft in 2021 and he has since become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. He has completed over 7 IRAs, so there is no doubt that he still has some growing left to do in his career. If the Titans can acquire another player like Rivers, who is an established top-notch passer, they will increase their chances of winning the playoffs in consecutive years. However, they must also develop a secondary to Rivers if they expect to repeat as champions in 2021.
Two former All Star caliber players that are currently playing in the NFL are Chad Johnson and Charlie Frye. Unfortunately, it appears as if Tennessee is unable to find a suitable replacement for either of these signal callers. Although Johnson has started just one season, he is widely regarded as one of the most clutch passers in the game. He has been a steady contributor on offense and is one of the main reasons why the Titans have been successful during their two-season playoff run. Unfortunately, he was injured during the first quarter of this recent playoff victory against the Saints and did not participate in the remainder of the game.
The Tennessee Titans currently has one of the highest rated coaching staffs in the league. The question is whether or not this high quality of coaching will translate into the rest of the season. The answer appears to be a cautious “maybe”. Because of the uncertainty surrounding the quarterback position, the Titans have struggled mightily throughout the season. Although some may point to the lack of experienced receivers and running backs, the fact remains that this group has been extremely inconsistent.
Even though Charlie Frye is now in Houston, the Titans have a huge decision to make regarding whether or not to bring him back into the fold. While he has shown signs of being able to lead a team to victory, there are just too many holes in the offensive line to rely on a young player with very little experience. If the Titans decide to bring Frye back, they will likely need to make an immediate change at left tackle. Depending upon who they choose as their starting left tackle, it could be another tough decision for the new head coach.
In terms of the future of the Tennessee Titans, it appears that their ceiling will be in the upper reaches of the mid-way through the 2021 season. There is no reason why the team can’t win every season that they play in the Tennessee Titans football program. If the head coach decides to stick with the talented and exciting roster that he has been building, the Tennessee Titans have a great chance to repeat their success from the past few years. It won’t be easy, of course, but the Titans will find a way.
With a new coaching staff and a fresh attitude, the Tennessee Titans has an excellent chance to end the season on a high note. But will they have enough to win the Super Bowl this year? With the arrival of Tom Brady and a healthy Joe Greene, the New England Patriots could well be a serious threat to the Titans in what appears to be a battle for the AFC South. The division is wide open and any team can win any given week, but the Titans are too talented and experienced to lose to any team in the NFL. The upcoming games will help determine if the Titans are worthy of a top seed in the playoffs.
