Life can be challenging no doubt, but eventually, we all get through it, and now it’s time to get back out into the world and enjoy a bit of adventure. Kids, teens and adults often feel the need to get away and do something fun, unique and enjoyable. Our travel experts have come up with some great activities you can do solo, as a couple, in a group of friends or as a family unit.
1. Helicopter Ride
Perhaps, Lenny Kravitz sang it best:
“I wish that I could fly
Into the sky
So very high
Just like a dragonfly.”
Why not? Strap yourself in, and let the pilot take you to new heights in a helicopter ride or tour. Let’s be honest. You’ll be getting an amazing new perspective as you levitate and float in space in this incredible flying machine.
You will feel like you’re part of a cloud, or a mountaintop or a skyscraper. It is truly a unique experience where you get to sightsee from so many viewpoints.
2. Camping Trip
There’s nothing better than getting away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and sleeping outdoors under the stars at night. It’s an awesome way to connect with nature and more popular than ever.
Whether you and your friends want to go glamping with luxury or head out to a scenic area such as camping in Utah state parks, there is a spot in nature waiting just for you.
Camping is what you make it. From mountain biking to fishing to hiking to swimming and horseback riding, or just gazing up at the moon and stars, there is something for everyone.
3. Obstacle Race
If you’re seeking a full-body workout adventure, then try an obstacle race in your community or in a state near you. You can often enter one of these events alone, or grab a group and compete as a team.
There are also obstacle races for the family, and what better activity to get your kids away from their cell phones and video games and into the healthy outdoors moving their bodies. It’s a good method of doing something different from the routine, and the family bonding is quite special after such an event.
You’re bound to have a blast climbing up and down walls, through the mud and so on.
Entering an obstacle race is a brand new way to challenge your body and mind, and you’re getting in an excellent cardio and strength training combination. You don’t have to be a professional endurance athlete to enter, either. There are obstacle races you can do as a novice, etc.
Isn’t it time to take back the summer?!
4. Boat Ride
Another favorite activity that lets you escape the pressures of everyday living is getting in or on the water. Most folks enjoy being around water because it has such a calming effect, according to the mind experts. It is called the “Blue Health phenomenon.”
One marine biologist looks at it this way, saying that being around water removes you from distractions and simplifies the visual landscape.
With that said, a boat ride is a wonderful vehicle for letting you get away, and the sounds of water are also soothing to the brain.
There is a wide variety of boat rides across the country that you can find that does not require a multi-day commitment. For instance, there are boat rides that stop at a barrier island for shell collecting. Then, there are others that can take you and the kids on a pirate adventure. Or how about the famous Duck Boats in cities like Boston and Seattle that give tourists both land and sea expeditions as they sit in a WWII amphibious vehicle that shows them historic landmarks and breathtaking views?
Let’s face it. Folks just want to get away, reconnect with nature and have a ball returning to a sense of normalcy. Green spaces and blue spaces offer all of us the best kinds of outdoor recreation. It’s time to try something you haven’t done in a long while or maybe perform an activity you’ve been eager to engage in. Get out there and dream big!
