Tool was the lead act on the final day of Boston Calling recently, and no new album followed or preceded that performance. Nonetheless, fans will be clamoring for information on the release of a new Tool album leading up to Tool’s performance on Sunday, May 5th at the Welcome To Rockville music festival.
Other artists appearing at Rockville include Rob Zombie, Judas Priest, KORN, Shinedown, and Incubus. Judas Priest is also heading out on a national tour.
Maynard James Keenan could be setting up quite a stretch of a few years here. He is the lead singer for A Perfect Circle, and they are receiving high praise for the new album Eat The Elephant.
Update: May 1st. On May 1st the band tweeted out a suggestive hint bout something arriving in the near future. Judge for yourself:

Update: On January 4th, 2019, Maynard James Keenan took to twitter to announce that the new Tool album has in fact been recorded and the mixing process is now underway.

We would imagine that Tool would strive to have the album released prior to their big schedule starting in May.
