Tips for Getting Your Jet Ski in Working Order Again

Are you itching to get back on the water with your jet ski this summer, but you’re not able to get it to start? You’re not alone. If you’re ready for some summer fun, you need to get your jet ski in working order again, and that means you’ll need to do some maintenance and care so that you can keep things running smoothly. Summer fun is possible, but you shouldn’t rush things and get on the water when you or your jet ski isn’t ready. Take your time and make sure it will keep you safe on the water.

Check the Battery

Before getting out on the water this year for some summer fun, you need to check out your battery. Your jet ski won’t start with a dead battery, so make sure it has a full charge and that the connections are clean and tight. If your battery is old or not holding a charge, consider replacing it with an entirely new one that can give your jet ski the power it needs.

Invest in a Rebuild Kit

When you want to get your jet ski in working order, you may need to invest in a rebuild kit. From the outside looking in, you may expect a jet ski engine rebuild kit to be scary, but it can actually be quite simple. A kit comes with components like gaskets, seals, and other small parts that can wear out over time. When you invest in a kit and work on your jet ski, you can quickly notice increased performance and reliability, which you need to take your summer jet skiing adventure to the next level!

Inspect the Spark Plugs

Next, take a look at the spark plugs. Depending on their state, you may need to replace them. These spark plugs are crucial for the ignition process, so even a small amount of wear or debris can prevent your jet ski from starting. During the inspection, you’ll need to remove the spark plugs, and if there’s anything out of the ordinary, replacement is necessary.

Check for Fuel Contamination

Another common issue with jet skis is fuel contamination. This contamination can happen from old or dirty fuel, which can clog the carburetor and prevent it from working properly. Make sure to check the fuel and replace it if necessary. Drain the old fuel from the tank and the carburetor, and clean out any residue. Then, you can fill the tank with fresh fuel and even add a fuel stabilizer so that you can prevent future contamination.

With some simple steps and regular upkeep, you can get your jet ski in working order for years to come. A little bit of work can go a long way in making sure your summer is a fun and safe one.
