Ways To Make Your In-Person Event Safer and More Hygienic

An in-person event may seem challenging with the growing emphasis on health and safety. Indeed, taking essential steps to protect attendees should be a top priority for organizers, although it can be tough to know where to begin. Luckily, there are a few simple ways to make your in-person event safer and more hygienic while still allowing attendees to enjoy themselves.

Invest in Hand Sanitizing or Washing Stations

Even with proper social distancing, you should still encourage attendees to make sure they’re constantly washing and sanitizing their hands. One of the best ways is to make this process as convenient as possible by installing portable hand washing stationsthroughout your event. You’ll need to strategically place these stations throughout the venues, especially near bathrooms and eating areas, to make access as straightforward as possible.

Screen Attendees at the Door

While a temperature check cannot detect every illness, it is one of the simplest ways to make your in-person event safer and more hygienic. At each entrance, have at least two trained individuals with temperature sensors and spare face masks if someone forgets or breaks theirs during the event. You could even give out tiny bottles of hand sanitizer for participants to take with them.

Implement a No Touch Policy

Shaking hands and embracing may have been popular at gatherings in the past, but many in-person events today advise attendees not to have any physical contact with each other. You can accomplish this by announcing the event’s start or when attendees check in. Keep the request informal, but remind visitors that amicable but contactless interaction is preferable for everyone’s safety. Many guests should comply with such requests without much prodding.

Implement a Reporting System

No one wants to be a spy; however, participants may not feel comfortable asking others to keep them in check. Instead, remind guests of the hygiene regulations at check-in and invite them to contact a staff member if they notice any unsafe conduct. This lifeline helps attendees feel comfortable and allows them to alert the organizers about any possible risk without retribution.

Awareness is your most potent weapon against disease spread at an in-person event. Ensure your employees are fully trained on all of these rules, and inform guests as much as possible to ensure they adhere to them.
