Fantasy Football Value Gem: Week 8

Fantasy Football Value Gem:  We are moving on to Week 8 after a monster performance by our Fantasy Football Value Gem in Week 7.   WR Michael Thomas of the Saints had a huge game.  The intent here is to find a low cost but productive option to round out a roster in a DFS contest.  Of course anyone can select the obvious choices if one wishes to pay those high salaries, but unfortunately one can’t fill an entire roster with the top salaries at every position.

Let’s take a look at the Denver Broncos this week and their home game hosting the San Diego Chargers.  The San Diego Chargers have given up the 3^rd highest fantasy points totals to RB all season in the NFL.  The Chargers are giving up 4.0 YPC to opposing backs this season along with 9 TDs.   San Diego is the 12^th worst team in the NFL in terms of total yards allowed.   This isn’t a horrible defense like New Orleans is as an example but it is at best a modest defense.

The Denver Broncos continue to roll forward with a rookie QB and still in a way trying to find their offensive identity.  It appears that RB CJ Anderson is out for this game and perhaps several more.  It is highly likely that head coach Gary Kubiak will desire some long, sustained drives to keep the ball away from Chargers QB Philip Rivers.

Devontae Booker offers potentially very solid value here at a salary of just $3,700.  The rookie was very effective in limited action the first time out against the Chargers and in Week 7 he essentially took over the role of primary RB from Anderson.   If Anderson is out or banged up Booker will get the touches.   We wouldn’t expect him to get into the Hall of Fame on Sunday but he could certainly put up 15+ points at a very light salary. 

Let’s take a stab with RB Devontae Booker this week at just $3,700 so we can spend more on other roster spots.  Booker could certainly bring back 15+ points in this spot.  Good luck and enjoy the games!
