Boston Symphony Orchestra Live Stream
The Boston Symphony Orchestra is an American symphonic orchestra consisting of professional players and amateurs that specialize in chamber music, classical music, and new music. The symphony orchestra is part of the Music Theatre Group along with the Symphony Youth Organization. The bso is regularly invited to perform at various events throughout the New England area, as well as around the world. The bso also regularly presents a holiday concert at Christmas time. Many people view the bso’s performances as bringing to life many of the music’s great composers such as Alexander Borodin, Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Maximillian Plotkin, and Aleksandr Pushkin.
The bso is a valued member of the community and an essential workers of the community. Most people who attend to see the bso perform spectacular performances using some of the finest and most highly technical symphonic instruments. In the past the bso has enjoyed collaborations with other like minded organizations such as the Boston Pops Orchestra, the Boston Opera House Orchestra, and the Park Avenue Piano Company. These collaborations have brought to light the talents and musical styles of the various artists and musicians that have appeared at past performances.
The conductor and principal conductor of the bso are Benjamin Lanois. Mr. Lanois received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Harvard University in 1963. He then spent a year playing chamber music in New York City, performing with such notable musicians as Yo-Yo Ma, Arthur Rubens, and Paul Moritz. After this time he joined the Boston Symphony as a conductor and principal conductor, performing with such diverse ensembles as the Steely Dan, Boston Pops, chamber music choirs, as well as soloists. During the 1980’s he also became the principal conductor of the orchestra that presented the world premiere of Beethoven’s “OSTA” (the first opera to be performed in America by an opera company).
Benjamin Horvath is the principal conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Horvath is the youngest of the Lanois brothers. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Champaign. He then spent a few years as an assistant conductor for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. After that he was principal conductor of the orchestra in London, performing contemporary works such as Handel’s “Water Music”. In addition, he has also done holiday pops for companies such as Disney, on several occasions.
For audiences across the world the question of the missing Handel is answered with the Boston Symphony once again presenting Handel’s “Water Music” as part of their holiday concerts. This concert will mark the first occasion that the symphony orchestra will be premiering a new symphony piece in the changing times. And the conductor will be the very first conductor to be selected to conduct the New York Philharmonic in this new world symphony.
The new recording of this symphony will be the fourth recorded in the twenty-six year history of the Boston Symphony. The four November concerts will take place at the historic Adler Theatre in New York City. The first of these concerts will take place on November 3rd. And they will conclude with a concert by the same composer, Robert le Corbusier. The composer is not expected to be in attendance at any of these performances. But, as is typical of these types of holiday concerts, many of the contemporary artists who are performing will be there.
So, what can we expect on this memorable day? Well, the composer, Robert le Corbusier, will be introduced at the start of the concert, as will Beethoven’s Requiem, and will complete his own” finale” of sorts. Then, as an encore presentation, the surviving members of the symphony orchestra will perform Beethoven’s “Fur Elise” and “Four Seasons”. Finally, after a short break for a light drink or a snack, the BSO will present a new composition by Robert Rauschenberg entitled “Air”, which will be played as the final encore selection. Then, of course, the traditional program will conclude with a ballet by the well-known dancer, Martha Graham.
Overall, the entire affair should prove to be a spectacular one. The rich repertoire of works will certainly keep audiences entranced. And the dynamic group of bso members, led by its principal, Johannes Nelsons, will provide some of the finest dancing around. But for opera lovers and fans of good music, there is no doubt that the newly recorded performances of the bso symphony orchestra will top the record books.
